It is highly recommended that you never use exterior paint inside the interior rooms of a building under any circumstances. Exterior paints are formulated with entirely different chemical additives, resins, and fungicides compared to interior paints, designed specifically to withstand harsh outdoor elements like rain, freezing temperatures, and intense ultraviolet light. To maintain flexibility and resist mold growth outdoors, exterior formulas contain specific biocides and flexible resins that continuously release high levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and chemical fumes into the air for months or even years after application. When trapped inside an enclosed indoor space with standard ventilation, these chemical off-gassings can create severe indoor air quality issues, leading to persistent headaches, respiratory irritation, nausea, and long-term health risks for the occupants.
