How to install storefront windows?

on June 2, 2026

Storefront window installation involves constructing a rigid, interlocking grid of extruded aluminum profiles designed to withstand high winds and heavy daily use. Installers first anchor the perimeter components, including the sub-sill, jambs, and head receptors, directly to the surrounding masonry or steel building structure. Before placing the glass, specialized heavy-duty rubber setting blocks must be precisely positioned along the bottom aluminum sill pocket to cushion the glass and distribute its weight evenly without blocking internal weep holes. The large glass lites are then carefully lifted and dropped directly into the deep framing pockets. To secure the glass, workers apply interior and exterior elastomeric glazing gaskets, lock down the panels using exterior aluminum pressure plates or snap-on trim caps, and thoroughly apply structural silicone caulking to guarantee complete weatherproofing.
